IWC: University services

University services

The following pages provide practical information about the services on the different campuses: cafeterias and canteens, photocopying, parking, general facilities, shops, etc.

IWC: University services (list)

In addition to the above, we should also highlight some services that are of particular importance:

Library

The EHU library is a learning and research resource centre (LRRC) whose mission is to provide scientific information and bibliographic and documentary support for university-based activities.

Our university library is currently divided between three large campus libraries, one on each of the EHU’s campuses: Araba (in Vitoria-Gasteiz), Bizkaia (in Leioa) and Gipuzkoa (in Donostia-San Sebastián). There are also a number of other departmental libraries.

IT services

Any member of the EHU community can request IT support through the User Support Centre (referred to at the university as the CAU). Services include help with your work computer, the university's Wi-Fi network, GAUR, IKERTU, Egela, EgelaPI, etc.

You can contact the User Support Centre (CAU) at cau@ehu.eus.

Listening and Response Network

University is about much more than just studying. If you are having academic, psychological, financial or social difficulties, our Listening and Response Network is here to help. We have a team ready to help you and the resources necessary to overcome any obstacle.

EHU protocol against gender-based violence

Have you ever been exposed to or experienced any of these things on campus?

  • Sexist, homophobic or transphobic comments
  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual or sex-based harassment

If the answer is yes, then the EHU equality office is there to help:

You can also consult our comprehensive protocol against gender-based violence.

Healthcare service

This service is available to all EHU staff (both administrative and teaching and research). It focuses on health monitoring and promotion, including medical check-ups, consultations, tests, programmes to help you stop smoking and specific support for pregnant women and those in vulnerable situations, among others.

Location:

  • Araba: Araba Campus Pro Vice-Chancellor’s Office (Vitoria-Gasteiz)
  • Bizkaia: Library Building, ground floor (Leioa)
  • Gipuzkoa: Barriola Building (Aulario), Plaza Elhuyar 1 (Donostia-San Sebastián)

Psychological Support Service

If you are worried about something and believe you need help, the EHU offers a Psychological Support Service. To request support, simply send an email to sap@ehu.eus briefly describing the situation prompting the enquiry.

Specific student needs

The EHU has a service designed to support students with specific needs:

  • a) Hearing impairments
  • b) Visual impairments
  • c) Physical disabilities (motor and organic diseases)
  • d) Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD: dyslexia, dysorthography, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and specific language impairment)
  • e) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • f) Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • g) Mental Disorders (MD).

If you have any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact the service, which has offices on each campus.

ALDEZLE: Service for protecting the rights of the entire university community

What kind of issues can ALDEZLE help you with?

  • Complaints linked to the poor functioning of certain services, inappropriate behaviour by other members of the university community or any other reasonable motive.
  • Mediation in the event of a conflict between two or more parties.
  • Queries: Aldezle will attempt to clear up any issues that have not been satisfactorily resolved by the relevant authorities.

You can contact Aldezle at aldezle@ehu.es.

Daycare

The Leioa campus (Bizkaia) has a daycare centre (Umeak) for families in the university community who need to balance work and family commitments. The centre provides different services for children between 0 and 6 years of age.

You can contact the centre at fundacion-umeak@ehu.eus.

Job centres

The Job centres on each campus provide information about job openings both during your time at the EHU and once you graduate.

Volunteering

If you want to increase your social awareness and make a positive impact on the local community during your stay at the EHU, the university has a portal about Volunteering that contains a list of organisations with which you can collaborate.

Options include sporting activities, providing academic support for children and young people, helping migrants or refugees, helping people with disabilities and initiatives linked to sustainability, among others.
