LHGL Fakultatearen Newsletterra
Newsletter of the Faculty of Labour Relations and Social Work (University of the Basque Country)
The Newsletter of the Faculty of Labour Relations and Social Work was created as a communication tool designed to highlight and share everything that is developed and takes place within the Faculty in the fields of teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and dissemination. It is aimed both at members of the Faculty and at society at large, and is inspired by the Faculty's motto: For equality and a fair distribution of wealth.
The Faculty offers teaching on the Bizkaia campus (Leioa) and the Álava campus (Vitoria-Gasteiz). It was established through the merger of two institutions with long-standing histories: the University School of Social Work —which began its journey in March 1964 in Vitoria-Gasteiz— and the University School of Labour Relations, founded in 1989. Since their beginnings, both schools have contributed to the training of generations of professionals committed to social justice, labour rights, and collective well-being.
Today, the Faculty of Labour Relations and Social Work is a leading institution in the Basque Autonomous Community in the education and training of professionals in the fields of labour relations and social work. It also stands out for its active involvement in projects and forums focused on working conditions, social welfare, gender equality, and environmental sustainability.
LHGL Faculty Newsletter, first launched in 2018, is a biannual publication open to contributions from the entire university community —students, administrative and service staff (PAS), and teaching and research staff (PDI)— all of whom are encouraged to propose relevant content and information for publication.
In the Ikuspegiak / Perspectives section, members of the Faculty are invited to share their views on current affairs. This section also includes accessible versions of high-level research projects, whose results are published in indexed journals, books, and chapters in prestigious publishing houses. Additionally, the Newsletter features sections that promote dialogue with professionals in the fields of labour relations and social work, contributing to public debate from a foundation of knowledge and experience.
Furthermore, the Newsletter provides information on seminars, conferences, and other events related to the world of work and social welfare, which involve experts and key stakeholders in the sector.
