Equipment of the month: ZETASIZER ULTRA
The Zetasizer Ultra analyzer, attached to the Macrobehaviour-Mesostructure–Nanotechnology Service of SGIker, uses DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering), NIBS (Non-Invasive Backscatter) and MADLS (Multi-Angle Dynamic Light Scattering) technologies to determine sizes and size distribution of molecules in solution and particles in suspension at different angles ( 13º, 90º and 173º), in a range from 0.3 nm to 10 µm. It also provides Z potential and electrophoretic mobility measurements, using M3-PALS (Mixed Mode Measurement Phase Analysis Light Scattering) technology in a range from 3.8 nm to 100 µm, with an MPT-3 autotitrator with degasser , designed to automate changes in pH, conductivity, additive concentration, and sample concentration conditions during Z potential and size measurements.
It finds application in various areas: life sciences and pharmaceuticals sensitive to temperature or changes in pH, paints, inks and coatings, nanomaterials, food, beverages and other consumer products such as cosmetics and detergents.
