El foro de debate "EHU Talks" es el resultado de una iniciativa llevada a cabo en la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y de la Comunicación. En el marco de este foro, y con el fin de dar un impulso al uso (activo y pasivo) del inglés por parte de todos los miembros interesados de nuestra Facultad, diferentes expertos irán presentando charlas en inglés sobre temas de interés y relacionados con algunas de las materias que se imparten aquí.
La nueva iniciativa de este foro será una conferencia titulada: "In the shadow of an Empire: Irish and British approaches to European integration, 1945-2017". El ponente es MA. Niall Cullen (UPV/EHU; National University of Ireland).

Abstract:
Last year's decision by the British electorate to leave the European Union ("Brexit") has challenged many of the long-held assumptions surrounding the future of the EU, and indeed, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland itself. In comparing the UK's historical approach to European integration in the post-World War II period with that of its nearest neighbour, Ireland, it is possible to trace how the shared underlying legacy of the British Empire has helped to guide the respective Eurosceptic and Europhile outlooks of both states towards European integration to the present day.
