Mikel Larrea is a Computer Engineer from the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne, and Doctor in Computer Science from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. He is co-founder and co-director of the Distributed Systems Group of the UPV/EHU. He has carried out research stays at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne, IRISA-INRIA Rennes, LIAFA-University of Paris 7 and Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. He has supervised 3 doctoral theses. He is the author of 19 journal publications and 72 publications in international congresses. He has edited 1 book. He has participated in 38 research projects.



He has been a member of the program committee of 50 international congresses. He has evaluated proposals for research projects for the European Union and MINECO. He has reviewed articles for 18 journals and 60 international congresses. He is a member of the editorial board of 7 international journals. He has been a member of the board of 12 doctoral theses. He has directed 6 doctoral research projects, 3 master's degree projects and 29 final year projects.



He has taught undergraduate, master and doctorate at the UPV/EHU. He has taught postgraduate teaching at the University of Mannheim (Germany), within the framework of the ERASMUS Program of Mobility of Teaching Personnel. He has participated in 5 educational innovation projects of the UPV/EHU.
