Autumn and Spring Basque Language and Culture courses (face-to-face/online)

The aim of this course is, not only that you can begin learning our language, Basque, but also to let you know our culture through the face-to-face classes and the activities that will be held outside the classroom. We want you to be able to communicate in Basque in everyday situations and, at the same time, know us better taking a closer look at the traditions, gastronomy, culture and mythology of what will be your house the following months.

Dates of the course:

  • Autumn face-to-face course: 12 September to 21 December 2023 > Course closed

  • Autumn online course: 12 September to 21 December 2023 (group limited to 30 places for students that do not know Spanish) > Course closed

  • Spring course (face-to-face): 23 January to 9 May 2024 > Course closed

  • Spring online course (continuation of the first semester course): 23 January to 9 May 2024 (group limited to 30 places) > Course closed

Schedule: 

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 13:30 to 15:30 hours.

Fees:

Exchange program students administered by the Vice-Rectorate of Basque, Culture and Internationalization: Free of charge.

Other students: 180 euros

Available level:

Face-to-face courses: beginner

Online course: continuation of the course held in the first semester.

Places of the course will be assigned strictly by order of registration. Students of exchange programs administered by the Vice-Rectorate of Basque, Culture and Internationalization will have priority/preference to other students.

We recommend students to read the regulations before fulfilling their registration in our courses.

Basque Language and Culture Spring course calendar

Admission in the course: 

  • Official beginning of the course: 23 January 2024

  • Closure of admission (online registration form): 7 February at 23:59 hours

  • Deadline to enter in class (only registered students): 8 February at 13:30 hours

  • Deadline to provide all documents needed to complete the registration in the course, if needed (see documents below): 16 February

Students entering the courses after the official beginning date of the course (23 January), will have to update on their own of the topics already given in class.

Only students that have completed their registration within the deadline will be allowed to take part in the course.

Mobility/Exchange program students administered by the Vice-Rectorate of Basque, Culture and Internationalization:

Students that have not completed their online registration in GAUR, will have to provide a document stating their admission as exchange students in the UPV/EHU including the dates of stay.

These students can follow this course free of charge. In case of doubt, and before proceeding to any payment, do please send us an e-mail to cursosidiomas@ehu.eus

 

International students registered in different postgraduate studies, visiting researchers and/or teaching staff:

  • Online registration form > Admission closed
  • Document stating being admitted in the UPV/EHU as a student, visiting teacher or researcher including dates of stay.
  • Copy of the bank transfer for the amount of the corresponding registration fee: 180 euros.

Exchange program students administered by the Vice-Rectorate of Basque, Culture and Internationalization will have preference taking part in these courses. The secretary of the courses reserves the right to admit other program students within the university community to the existance of places in the different groups available.

We remind you that the last day to complete the registration in this course, this is, to send all documents that might be needed besides the online registration form of the courses, will be 16 February.

Students not registered correctly and, therefore, not appearing in the official lists of class that teachers will have; will not be allowed in the classrooms, nor receive any credits or grades for this course.

Online group for students that passed the first semester course

Students registered in this course will receive via e-mail a link to enter the platform of the course.

We remind students that, when courses are being held online, it is absolutely forbidden to pass or exchange the links of the classes to other students without the express consent of the Language Courses office.

 

We kindly ask students to pay attention to their e-mail, including the spam folder, just in case our e-mails arrive there.

Syllabus of the course

Besides being published in this site, students will get the syllabus in the beginning of each course. We recommend students to download and keep it just in case they need to present it to their home university to get the credits of the course.
