This project focuses on two key sectors in the new technologies of the DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) digital broadcasting. The first one is the sector of the communication electronics for broadcasting systems, based on hardware-software architectures. This sector is aimed at developing the prototype, previous to marketing, of a receiver based on the technology named "Software Radio". This DRM receiver will be designed to work in bands below 120 MHz. The second key sector consists in creating channel models to aid the planning of DRM nets in those bands. These channel models will be based on field analyses in DRM trial nets and their development is aimed at producing software, previous to marketing, in order to aid the planning of this kind of nets, based on realistic models generated by field analyses. In this project we collaborate with the Signal Processing and Radiocommunications Group, which leads the project.
