After a hiatus due to the pandemic, on 17th February 2023 the UPV/EHU will hold an Investiture Ceremony for all the new Doctors who defended their theses in 2019 and 2020. The Vice-chancellor of the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, Eva Ferreira García, will lead the ceremony, which will start at 5 p.m. in the Mitxelena auditorium at the Bizkaia Aretoa in Bilbao (Avenida Abandoibarra, 3), and is expected to last for at least three hours.

The new doctors who defended their theses in 2019 and 2020 and who wish to attend the Investiture Ceremony must register using the following form, which will be available up to, and including, 10 January 2023. No applications will be accepted after this date.

The Doctoral School will provide all the new doctors with an academic gown on the day of the investiture ceremony. For this reason, all attendees must be punctual and arrive at the Bizkaia Aretoa at 3:45 p.m., where they will be given further instructions by the organisers.

Due to the fact that the event will focus on graduates from two years, and to respect the Mitxelena auditorium's capacity requirements, only the UPV/EHU academic procession and the new doctors shall be allowed access (you will be given due notification should this change). Each new doctor may be accompanied by one guest, who will follow the ceremony telematically from the Baroja (2nd floor) and Oteiza (1st floor) auditoriums at the Bizkaia Aretoa.

For this purpose, the organisation will give the new doctors their guest invitation once they have put on their academic gown. The accompanying guest will be required to show this invitation when entering the auditorium.

Likewise, the ceremony will be streamed, and a photographer will cover the entire event, taking both individual and group photographs.
