Miren Arrieta González

(4th Year Chemistry Degree Student)

Biography

Miren Arrieta González is from Vitoria-Gasteiz. She is currently in her final year of a degree in Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and is completing her internship and aiming to do her final degree project.

Research

Her research project focuses on the development of optical fiber-based biosensors for the detection of thyroid cancer biomarkers through fluorescence measurements. The work involves the functionalization of optical fibers with specific proteins to enable the selective recognition of target biomolecules, followed by the evaluation of fluorescence signals for sensitive detection. This research also addresses the optimization of the surface functionalization process to improve sensor performance, reproducibility, and reliability. The project stands out for its potential application in the development of portable, highly sensitive diagnostic platforms, contributing to the advancement of optical biosensing technologies for early thyroid cancer detection.
