Biography
Urko Rodriguez Sierra is from Portugalete, Bilbao. He is currently in his final year of a degree in Industrial Chemical Engineering at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and is completing his internship and final degree project.
Research
His research project focuses on developing sensors based on optical fibers functionalized with gold nanoparticles for the selective detection of copper ions in aqueous solutions. The work also addresses the automation of the functionalization process and the study of pH's influence on process reproducibility. This research stands out for its potential application in the development of sensitive and portable detection systems, contributing to the improvement of analytical techniques for monitoring metallic contaminants in aqueous media.
