Biography

Ane Lamarka Etxeberria holds a degree in Basque Studies, with a specialization in Basque Linguistics, from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She later completed the European Master's in Multilingualism and Education at the same university. She has worked as a secondary education teacher, specializing as a Basque language instructor in various schools. In 2022, she joined the DREAM research group as a contracted researcher to contribute to the project Competence for Academic Language from the Multilingual Approach (HAGIE).

Throughout her career, she has participated as Contracted Research Staff (PIC) in two projects funded by the Basque Government and developed in collaboration with the DREAM group: HAGIE (2022) and HIGAEU (2023).

Currently, Ane works as a predoctoral researcher after securing a contract from the Basque Government. Her doctoral thesis, titled “The Importance of Individual Factors in the Use of Connectives in Expository Texts in Basque, Spanish, and English” primarily explores how one’s first language (L1) influences writing in additional languages, as well as the advantages of pedagogical translanguaging for linguistic development in educational settings and the enhancement of academic language proficiency. Her main interests include language teaching and learning processes, the use of Basque in multilingual contexts, and translanguaging.
