Introduction

The ‘Donostia Research group on Education and Multilingualism' (DREAM) conducts research on various aspects of multilingualism in educational settings. It focuses on the analysis of linguistic and communicative competence in the languages used in the school curriculum and within the family.

The DREAM group, based at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), is internationally renowned for its publications, presentations and papers at international conferences.

It is great pleasure to announce the celebration of the International conference on minority languages and multilingualism in European schools: practices, challenges, and future prospects that will take place in Donostia/San Sebastian July 9th, 2026. You may find the full CfP information here.

This conference aims to analyse and gain a deeper understanding of the situation of minority languages in European schools. The conference welcomes both theoretical and empirical academic contributions addressing multilingual educational experiences in which minority languages constitute a central focus of analysis. The conference will feature keynote speakers Jasone Cenoz and Durk Gorter whose work has significantly shaped contemporary research in this area.
