Biography
Eider Saragueta is an Assistant Professor (with accreditation as an Associate Professor) in the Department of Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Education, Philosophy, and Anthropology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Primary Education and another in Social and Cultural Anthropology from UPV/EHU, as well as a Master's degree in the European Master on Multilingualism and Education from the same institution. In 2019, she earned her Ph.D. with honors (Cum Laude) under the supervision of Jasone Cenoz at UPV/EHU, completing her dissertation with a grant from the Basque Government.
Since 2015, she has been an active member of the internationally renowned Donostia Research Group on Education and Multilingualism (DREAM), conducting research at the intersection of multilingualism and education. Her primary research interests include the use of the Basque language by primary and secondary school students, the development of students' identities, and the analysis of translanguaging practices in classrooms through the lens of classroom ethnography.
Eider Saragueta has presented her research at numerous international and national conferences on education, multilingualism, and language teaching. She has also published extensively in high-impact journals and contributed to book chapters, both nationally and internationally. Additionally, she has been involved in several national and European projects focusing on multilingualism and minority languages.
