Dates of the course:

Autumn course (face-to-face and online): 7 September to 16 December 2026 > Admission opened

Spring course (face-to-face and online): 25 January to 12 May 2027 > Admission closed

Schedule

Face-to-face courses: Mondays and Wednesdays from 13:30 to 15:30 hours.

Online courses (places limited to 30 per group and level): Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:30 to 18:30 hours.

Fees

Exchange program students administered by the Vice-Rectorates for Basque and Language Planning and/or Transference and Internationalization and ENLIGHT European University students: Free of charge.

Other students registered in the EHU: 180 euros (Do not proceed to any payment until your place on the course has been confirmed).

Available levels

Illustrative levels according to the European Framework of References for Languages (EFRL).

Beginners: zero to A1
Intermediate: A2-B1
Advanced: B1-B2

Besides completing the specific registration of the course (check requirements below), it is compulsory for students to complete the form of the academy in charge of the teaching with the data concerning their level within the deadline (check calendar) and in the way established for this purpose (check level test section). Students enrolled in these courses will receive an e-mail with all the information regarding the organization and formation of groups from the week prior to the start of classes and, thereafter, as soon as possible after completing the level test.

We inform students that it is not permitted to share the link to the test with other students without the express consent of the courses´ office. Doing so, may result in the expulsion of the students involved.

The registration will give access to a modality (face-to-face or online), a level and a specific class. Therefore, students will not be able to attend classes or levels other than the ones that they have been assigned to.

Important: students are not allowed to enter in any class if they have not received a confirmation e-mail from the organizers. Registered students entering in any class without being authorized, will accumulate absences/missing days that might affect the way they will be evaluated or even be expelled from the courses.

Places of the online course will be assigned strictly by order of registration. Students of exchange programs administered by the Vice-Rectorates for Basque and Language Planning and/or Transference and Internationalization and Enlight university students will have, in this order, priority/preference to other students.

We remind students taking part in the online courses that it is absolutely forbidden to pass or exchange the links of the classes to other students without the express consent of the language courses´ secretary office, being this a possible cause of expulsion of the students involved.

Besides this, participation in the online courses will have to be made with the computer camera on. Identification of students is necessary to know if the person assisting to class and taking the exams is the same person registered in them. If it is not made that way, the assistance to class will not be proved nor, in its case, given the exam for passed.

Note: students participating in the advanced level course, if they have passed the course, will not be able to continue with classes in the second semester as there is no higher level available.

Students who, without being registered, nor receiving the approval of the secretary of the courses, participate in any course will not be considered an official student and, therefore, will not receive a certificate or credits for their participation in it.

It is the students' responsibility to ensure that they are properly enrolled.

We recommend students to read the regulations before fulfilling their registration in our courses.

Calendar (first semeser face-to-face and online)

Official beginning date (classes): 7 September
Closure of admission (online registration form): 23 September at 23:59 hours
Last day to complete the academy´s form and take the online level test: 24 September at 23:59 hours
Deadline to enter in class (after indication of the level by the course organizers): 28 September
Deadline to ask for changes of level/group/modality: 4 October
Deadline to provide all documents needed to complete the registration in the course, if needed (payment students or online students - check documents needed below): 4 October (provisional date)

Students entering in class after the official beginning date of the course (7 September), will have to update on their own of the topics already given in class.

The request of a change of level, modality or group must mandatory be made via e-mail to the following e-mail address: cursosidiomas@ehu.eus. No changes will be authorized if they do not arrive by this means, even if they are approved by the teachers.

Attendance, online or in person, by students to a group or level different from the one communicated by the academy in charge of teaching the courses will not be valid and, therefore, no certificate will be issued, even if the students pass the exams or tests of that other level.

Only students that have completed their registration (see requirements below) and taken the level test or informed about their level of Spanish in the way and within the deadline stated to do so (24 September), will be allowed to take part in this course.

Documents (first semester)

Mobility/Exchange program students administered by the Vice-Rectorates for Basque and Language Planning and/or Transference and Internationalization and Enlight Alliance University students:

Students that have not completed their online registration in GAUR, will have to provide a document stating their admission as exchange students in the EHU for the academic year 2026-2027 including the host faculty and dates of stay.

Enlight university students (not coming to the EHU in person), besides filling the online registration form, will have to provide a copy of their 2026-2027 academic year course´s registration at their home university in English.

These students can follow the Spanish course free of charge. In case of doubt, and before proceeding to any payment, please do send us an e-mail to cursosidiomas@ehu.eus

International students registered in different postgraduate studies, visiting researchers and/or teaching staff at the EHU:

Copy of the bank transfer for the amount of the corresponding registration fee: 180 euros (Do not proceed to any payment until your place on the course has been confirmed).

Exchange program students administered by the Vice-Rectorates for Basque and Language Planning and/or Transference and Internationalization and Enlight university students will have preference, in this order, taking part in these courses. The secretary´s office of the courses reserves the right to admit other program students within the university community to the existance of places in the different groups/levels.

We remind you that the deadline to provide all documents to complete the registration in these courses (if anything is needed besides the online registration form), will be 4 October (provisional date). The course secretary's office will send an e-mail to each student, if necessary, with the documentation to be provided and the deadline available for submitting it.

Students not correctly registered and, therefore, not appearing in the official lists of the teachers; will not be allowed in class, nor receive any credits or grades for this course. It is the students' responsibility to ensure that they are properly enrolled.

Level test

These courses´ level test will be held online and will be used to determine the most suitable group/level for each student.

Students registered within the deadline to do so (before 23 September) will receive an email containing two forms: one for those with no knowledge of Spanish who wish to be placed in a beginner’s group starting from scratch, and another for those who do have some knowledge of Spanish and wish to take a level test.

On both forms, students will need to provide their personal details and then, depending on their situation, take the level test or not. When providing their personal details, students should bear in mind that the email address they provide will be used to send them all information relating to the classes.

The form and the test must be completed before 24 September.

The registration of students not taking the level test or informing us about their level within the deadline (24 September) will be cancelled.

Students enrolled in these courses who have completed their placement test before the beginning of the classes (7 September) will receive an email from the academy in charge of the teaching with all the information regarding their group and level the week before beginning of classes. From then on, students will be informed of their level and group as and when possible, depending on when they have completed the level test and when it has been processed.

We kindly ask students to pay attention to their e-mail, including the spam folder, just in case our e-mails arrive there.

Besides being published in this site, students will get the syllabus of their corresponding level in the beginning of each course. We recommend students to download and keep it just in case they need to present it to their home university to get the credits of the course.
