CONFERENCE-DEBATE “NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS: A RESPONSE TO GLOBAL CHANGE”
The conference-debate “Nature-based solutions: a response to global change” will take place next Friday 20th April at 1.30 p.m. at the Sociedad Bilbaína building (Calle Navarra, 1, Bilbao), led by Miren Onaindia, professor of ecology and coordinator of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Development and Environmental Education at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
The challenge of global change requires integrated reflection on the diverse issues relating to consumption habits, as well as sustainable resource management. It is important to understand the relationship between the natural and social systems, on both a local and a global scale, in order to develop knowledge that can be applied to sustainable management of natural resources and land.
In this context, the ecosystems service approach enables us to understand the benefits people obtain from nature and how it contributes, directly or indirectly, to our health, safety and well-being.
