Luis Garagalza (PhD in Philosophy with a thesis on Hermeneutics of language, Deusto University). He is a Full Professor of the Department of Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (Faculty of Arts, Vitoria-Gasteiz). Teaching subjects: Philosophical Anthropology, Modern Philosophy and Contemporary Philosophy. His research focuses on the connections between philosophical hermeneutics, language, symbolism and culture, and tries to explain the bases of a Hermeneutics of symbolic language.

He has published numerous articles and translations from French and German, as well as books such as La interpretación de los símbolos (Anthropos, Barcelona, 1991), Introducción a la Hermenéutica contemporánea. Cultura, simbolismo y sociedad (Anthropos, Barcelona, 2002), El sentido de la Hermenéutica (Anthropos, Barcelona, 2014) and, in collaboration with A. Ortiz-Osés, La mitología vasca (Editorial Nerea, San Sebastián, 2006).
