Degree (Universidad Complutense, Madrid, 1992) and PhD (Universidad de Deusto, 20014) in Law. Researcher at the Law Faculty of the UPV/EHU since 2006 (Permanent since 2011). She has been Vice-Dean Coordinator of the Bizkaia Section of the Faculty of Law (2016-2018). She is coordinator of the Degree in Law in Bizkaia.

Member of the Research Group Chair in Law and the Human Genome (Group A of the Basque University System). Member of the Human Research Ethics Committee of the UPV/EHU and of the Research Ethics Committee of the Carlos III Health Institute (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities). Member of the External Scientific Committee of the National Platform of Biobanks (Carlos III Health Institute). Member of the Ethics and Policy Committee of the International Cancer Genome Consortium. Chair of the International Legal and Ethical Advisory Board of the Rare Anaemias Disorders European Epidemiological Platform.

She has participated in 12 national and 10 international research projects.

She teaches Criminal Law at the UPV/EHU and Biolaw in postgraduate degrees in several Spanish universities.

She is the author or co-author of 24 scientific articles, 36 book chapters and 12 monographs. She has more than 100 contributions in congresses. Her lines of research are related to the legal implications of biomedicine.
