International students: Insurance

Students registered at the EHU are covered by accident and healthcare insurance upon enrolment: by the EHU Ikasle Insurance and School Insurance.

You will also find information on EHU IBILI, a voluntary insurance scheme for university students. The IBILI insurance is valid for non-EU students who need to obtain a study visa/permit. You can check what Spanish law requires regarding this in section 6 of the criteria and exceptions published in 2025. Specifically, IBILI insurance offers the concept of 'Medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, and hospitalization costs' with unlimited coverage, as long as the Insured person attends the contracted medical centres made available by the Insurer.
