MAMI (H2020-MSCA-ITN-ETN-766007)
Research project
Open procedure (Application submission deadline: 04/01/2018 - 04/07/2022 00:00)
Description
This multidisciplinary network entitled: "Magnetics and Microhydrodynamics - from guided transport to delivery" (MaMi) bridges the research fields of fluidics and magnetism, by taking advantage of magnetic forces to control local flows and cargo transport inspired by biomimetic systems. Using magnetic sources, as well as high magnetic susceptibility liquids or nanostructures, devices with unique anti-fouling properties and non-slip boundary conditions can be realized.
The MaMi Innovative Training Network (ITN) combines expertise in the field of magnetism with knowledge of bio-inspired local flow control, in order to create novel concepts and technological solutions that could revolutionize the field of microfluidics. The MaMi network consists of six research teams from France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Slovenia, and Spain and engages world-recognized leaders in the fields of magnetism and fluidics. This research and training program also includes companies in France and Slovenia, and a group of four other non-academic partner organizations working in the fields of magnetism, microfluidics, and IP management. The planned research ranges from understanding the fundamentals of cerebral fluid flow, to novel contactless magnetic liquid confinement, and the development of novel devices of industrial relevance. A total of 15 PhD students are working on this project and are funded through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie action of the European Union.
THIS PROJECT HAS RECEIVED FUNDING FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION’S HORIZON 2020 RESEARCH AND INNOVATION PROGRAMME UNDER THE MARIE SKŁODOWSKA‐CURIE GRANT AGREEMENT NO. 766007
