Journalist in different media from 1979 to 1989. B. A. in Journalism (UPV/EHU, 1982). Lecturer at the EHU-UPV since 1990. PhD in Journalism in 1993. Assistant Professor of UPV/EHU since 1998. Accredited as professor by the agency ANECA in 2012 and as Full professor in 2010 by the Basque agency Unibasq. Director since 2011 of the Research Team HGH (Media, Society & Education) recognized officially by the University of the Basque Country. Since 2013 February he is member of the Board of Directors of EiTB (Basque Country's Public Broadcast Service). Author or co-author of  twelve scientific books. The last one was about Spokesperson trainings and was published in 2011. Another one, Gabinetes de Comunicación (1995). He has participated in a lot of national and international Scientific Congresses. He is the author or coauthor of more than 55 specialized articles in Scientific reviews. 
Research works: He has been collaborator or director in ten research works from 1994 to 2013.

Alazne Aiestaran Yarza

She obtained her Ph. D. in Communication Studies in 2007 from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). That same year she began teaching in the Department of Journalism at the UPV/EHU. Since 2014 she has been Academic Secretary of the Department. She taught at the University of Mondragon for one year. Previously, she worked for 7 years as head of Drogetenitturri, a monthly publication in Basque and she taught Basque to adults in AEK for 7 years. She was a panel judge for the Rikardo Arregi Basque Journalism Award, 2008-2011. Since January 2011, she has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Communication Studies ZER and she is the author or co-author of 5 scientific books and 24 specialized articles in scientific reviews. She has participated in several projects as a researcher financed by the Spanish Central Government, by the University of the Basque Country and the Basque Autonomous Government.
Antxoka Agirre Maiora

He graduated in Law and in Journalism, both at the UPV/EHU (University of the Basque Country). He has worked for twenty years as a journalist on the publications Baleike, Gaztezulo and Bertsolari (currently as director of the latter). He has also been communications manager on projects launched by social movements. Since 2008, he has been a professor in the Department of Journalism II of the UPV/EHU, and since 2012, he has been a member of the HGH Research Team. He is the author or co-author of 3 books and 14 specialized articles in scientific reviews; he has participated in more than 20 national and international Scientific Congresses, 2 projects on educational innovation and 3 research projects. 
Beatriz Zabalondo

Graduated in Communication Sciences from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), she obtained the Advanced Studies Diploma through research on the attitudes of Basque-speaking young people to dubbed programmes on Basque public TV. Since 2011, she lectures at the University of the Basque Country. Before that date, she lectured at the University of Mondragon for seven years and worked as an audiovisual translator for over 25 years. She has also contributed to different Basque media (newspaper, television…). She is currently working on her thesis about Basque audiovisual translation. Member of the Board of Directors of the Berria Taldea (editorial group of the daily Berria, the only paper in Basque) since June 2011; president of the Group since June 2013

Imanol Murua Uria

Professional journalist on the news magazine Argia (1989-1990), the daily newspaper Euskaldunon Egunkaria (1990-1995 and 1998-2003), the journal Jakin (1996-1998), the daily newspaper Berria (2003-2008) and freelance (1995-1996 and 2008-2010). He has been a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Jakin from 2014. He was awarded the journalism prizes Rikardo Arregi (1996, 2006 and 2010) and Argia (2008). A Journalism graduate (UPV/EHU, 1989), he obtained his Ph.D. in Basque Studies (University of Nevada, Reno) and in Social Communication in 2014. Since 2015, he has lectured on journalism at the UPV/EHU. He is the author of six books and the co-author of four books, His most recent book, Ekarri armak. ETAren jardun armatuaren bukaeraren kronika (2015) is about the end of ETA's armed campaign.


Itsaso Manias Muñoz

She has been a Ph. D. student in the Department of Journalism since 2015. She holds a doctoral grant from the Basque Government to carry out her thesis entitled: Fagor Electrical Appliances S.Coop: analysis of the crisis from the communication point of view. The research work concerns discovering the communication and information strategies during crisis situations. Her project also addresses the handling of crisis communication through media content and framing analysis. After graduating in Audiovisual Communication from Mondragon University (2011), she got a Masters degree in Management of Audiovisual, Business and Institutional Communication from the University of Deusto (2012), and a Masters degree in Social Communication from The University of the Basque Country (2013). Currently, she occasionally contributes to the local magazine Puntua, writing on communication topics. Prior to her Ph. D. project, she worked as communication manager for several Basque companies and projects.

Amaia Alvarez Berastegi

She obtained a PhD in Law at Ulster University (2016) and a BSc in Journalism at the University of Navarre (2007). She also studied two postgraduate taught courses in the area of human rights and transitional Justice (UPV-EHU, 2011; Ulster University, 2012). She has five year experience working as a journalist in the newspapers Berria and Diario de Noticias and she also worked as a freelance correspondent in Ireland for several Basque newspapers. She has lectured at Ulster University and has published four academic articles. She has presented in several international conferences.


Udane Goikoetxea Bilbao

She has a 15-year career as a journalist. She has worked in radio Bizkaia Irratia (2001-2015) and television channel Hamaika Telebista, and has collaborated in EITB (Basque Radio Television). She has worked as a collaborator in the literature program of EIE (Basque Writers' Association) and the magazines Aikor! and Gaztezulo. She is a professor in the Department of Journalism of UPV/EHU since 2015. She graduated in journalism from the UPV/EHU, and holds a master's degree in Basque nationalism in the twenty-first century (2012), and also the Master Training of teachers of Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (2015). She has participated as a teacher in the courses of orality organised by Mendebalde Kultura Alkartea and the UPV/EHU. She has also been a teacher of the Reading Groups of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. Among her publications, the textbook and audio Euskaldunaren Anekdotak [Basques' stories] stands out. She has also done two research works on reading: The criteria for assessing reading aloud in Bizkaia and Materials to work on reading aloud in Bizkaia.


Guillermo Gurrutxaga Rekondo

He started his career as a journalist in 1997 in Ecuador. Since then, he has worked in both the Spanish State and the Basque Country. It should be pointed out that he was a member of the management team that launched the newspaper Noticias de Gipuzkoa. He has also collaborated with the following print media organizations: Argia, Egin, Egunkaria, Hirutxuloko Hitza, El Día de Valladolid, La Clave, Expreso or El Telégrafo as well as with these radio stations: Herri Irratia and Onda Vasca. In 2004, he gave his first journalism classes at the Casa Grande University in Ecuador. At present, he continues being a visiting professor of its master's degree on Digital Journalism. In 2011 and 2012, he did research in Brazil, doing fieldwork on the Agência da Boa Notícia Guajuviras, which is a communicative project for teenagers and young people in an area where there are high levels of violence. In 2014, he defended his doctoral dissertation on this project.


Miren Manias Muñoz

PhD in Film and Media studies at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (2015) and awarded ex-aequo as the 2015 Best Doctoral Thesis by the SGAE Foundation. Her thesis looked into the economics and production conditions of Basque-language cinema, based on the recent Culture Policy of the Basque Government. In 2016 she obtained from the Basque Government the Basque Visiting Fellow grant to join the Centre for Cultural Policy Research (CCPR) at the University of Glasgow. Her research interests are focused on the national audiovisual structures as well as the protection policies for minority language media. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Edinburgh (Celtic and Scottish Studies Department) working on a three-year project about minority-language media in Europe with a stress on Scottish Gaelic broadcasting, under supervision of Professor Robert Dunbar. Previously to her academic career, she has worked as a journalist, communication and production assistant on TV, press and cinema.
