IWC: After completing your studies: residence permit for job-seeking or starting a new business

After completing your studies: residence permit for job-seeking or starting a new business

This is a permit for residing in Spain that allows you to seek employment appropriate to your field and qualification level or to set up a new business once you have completed your studies. To apply for such a permit, you must have earned (at the very least) a university undergraduate degree at the EHU.

Please note that this permit does not authorise you to work. Once you have found a job, the organisation that hires you is responsible for applying to change your visa from a job-seeking one to a work one.

The maximum duration of a job-seeking permit is 24 months (non-extendable), starting from the expiry date of your previous ‘Study Permit’.

How can I apply for this permit?

You can apply any time between 60 days prior and 90 days after the expiry date of your Study Permit.

The only way to apply is online over the Mercurio platform. To do this, you will have to obtain a digital certificate from the National Mint and Stamp Factory (FNMT). To obtain a digital certificate, you will need a Foreign ID Number (NIE).
