Working or engaging in an internship during your time at the EHU

Work permit while studying at the EHU

If you have a study permit, you may work for up to 30 hours per week provided this is compatible with your studies. Your work permit will expire when your visa/study permit or your Foreign ID Card (TIE) expires.

To work or engage in an internship, you will need a Foreign ID Number (NIE) and a Social Security number (NUSS).

  • Foreign ID Number (NIE)
Your Foreign ID Number is shown on your visa and/or your Foreign ID Card (TIE).
  • Social Security number (NUSS)
You must have a Social Security number before you can sign an employment contract.

How can I complete this procedure?

The quickest way to obtain a Social Security number is online via the Social Security website.

To do this, you must first have obtained a digital certificate from the National Mint and Stamp Factory (FNMT).
