Biography
Laura Sainz Gomez obtained a degree in Primary Education with the minor in Foreign Language, at Deusto University. She specialised in multilingualism by pursuing the European Master in Multilingualism and Education (UPV/EHU) and also in Basque Language thanks to the Master in Basque Linguistics and Philology (UPV/EHU). Laura has worked as Basque teacher, and as editor and content creator in Santillana (Sanoma Learning), creating teaching and learning materials for Basque Language and Literature subject. Nowadays, she is a predoctoral student at the UPV/EHU in the doctoral programme Education: school, language and society. Additionally, she is a member of the DREAM research group as a contracted researcher (PIC). Her main interests are multilingualism, translanguaging, acculturation orientations, language policies and language attitudes. Laura's thesis aims to analyse the benefits of using all students' language repertoire in Basque-medium classrooms, and the acculturation orientations, language policies and language attitudes behind those practices.
