The Doctoral School (DOKe) organises the 4th EHU Doctoral Conference, which will be held at the  Bizkaia Aretoa in Bilbao on 19th November 2026. This is a cross-disciplinary training event organised by the School, which combines academic and recreational elements and is held in collaboration with the EHU’s Vice-Rectorate for Knowledge Transfer and Internationalisation and the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (UPPA).

Entitled ‘Connect your research’, the event will be a meeting point between doctoral students, enabling them to find out about each other's work and to celebrate their research. To do so, each attendee will bring along an item that represents their research. This item could be some kind of device or artefact, accessory, headgear or any other object that enables the person to communicate to the others what their research is about.

This Conference intends to provide a meeting point for doctoral students from the EHU and UPPA, with the aim of raising awareness of the research activities carried out within the various PhD programmes and encouraging the exchange of experiences and views amongst PhD students from different fields of study.

Registration

There are two ways to take part:

1. Attending with your chosen object.
2. Giving a 180-second public presentation, using your chosen object as a prop.

If there are more people interested in giving a public presentation of their research than there is time available, DOKe will make a preliminary selection based on quality criteria and equitable distribution across disciplines.

On the day of the event, free bus transport will be provided to and from the Araba and Gipuzkoa campuses.

Deadline for registration and submission of abstracts: 18 October.

On 5 November, the proposals accepted and selected for public presentation will be announced.

All participants will receive a certificate which may be included in their record of activities, at the discretion of the Doctoral Programme. 

Awards

DOKe will award four prizes of 300 € each to the best proposals, which will be selected by the other participating PhD students. Each prize will consist of a travel grant to present the research findings at a conference of the recipient’s choice (the prize must be used for one or more of the following: registration, accommodation and/or transport).

The prizes will be handed out at the closing session of the 4th EHU Doctoral Conference.
