For the “Basque Language Doctorate” distinction, the main conditions are that the doctoral candidate must initially declare in writing their intention to write the thesis in Basque, comply with the subsequent monitoring process, register the application for the distinction at the time of thesis submission, and write and defend their thesis in Basque (the percentage required in the oral defence will vary depending on whether or not they simultaneously apply for the “International Doctorate” distinction).
