Germán Arana-Landín was born in San Sebastián in 1973. He obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1995 and his degree in Industrial Organization Engineering in 1998. He presented his PHD in 2003, which analysed the adoption of Quality Management models in companies in the Basque Country.

Regarding to his professional experience, he worked from 1996 to 1998 for Donostigas, a gas distribution company in San Sebastian as technical coordinator. In 1999, he worked as technical director of the industrial company GDA. In 2000, he started working as a professor at the University of the Basque Country in the department of Business Organisation and since 2003 he has been a permanent professor. For 4 years (2009-2013), he was vice-dean of International Relations at the Polytechnic School of San Sebastian.

As far as his research is concerned, he has worked on several research projects such as the research groups of the Basque University System and on projects to improve the management tools used by Small and Medium Enterprises in the region of Gipuzkoa. He has published several articles in national and international journals, mainly in areas related to the adoption of quality models and environmental management.
