María Basterrechea is Assistant Professor in the Department of English and German Studies, Translation and Interpreting at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. Her current teaching includes undergraduate courses in English Language as well as a postgraduate course on Syllabus Design in the Master's program in Language Acquisition in Multilingual Settings (LAMS; http://www.lams.ehu.es/p149-1000/es). She holds an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2012 she defended her Ph.D. on Interaction and Focus on Form in a Dictogloss Task in Secondary Education: A Comparative Study of CLIL and Mainstream Learner Production. She was awarded the Outstanding Thesis Award for her dissertation. Her primary research interests focus on the study of Focus on form and interaction (Long, 1996), bilingual / multilingual education and Content-and-Language-Integrated-Learning, as well as psycholinguistics. She is a member of the Language and Speech Research group – Established Research Group (Type A – Excellence, Basque Government). She has recently published articles in Language Awareness (2019) ,Tesol Quarterly (2017) or ELIA – Estudios de LingüísticaAplicada (2017). She has also published chapters in edited volumes such as Second Language Interaction in Diverse Educational Contexts Contexts (John Benjamins, 2013) y Applied Linguistics Perspectives on CLIL (John Benjamins, 2017).
