Doctor in Basque Philology (2012). In the last 20 years, his professional activity has been developed in the department of Language and Literature Didactics in the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. Previously (1985-1994), he worked as a dubbing translator (English-Basque) for the companies K-2000, S.A. and Edertrack, S.A.



In the years 2004-2007 and 2013-2016, he was sub-director of Academic Organization. He is currently a member of the committee of the master Hizkuntzaren Analisia eta Prozesamendua / Language Analysis and Processing.



His research work is part of the IXA research group, which has been repeatedly designated high performance group by the Basque Government and the UPV/EHU. The aim of this group is to develop tools for the automatic processing of languages, especially Basque. Author of more than 40 publications and 5 patents, he has participated in more than 35 research projects in the field of computational linguistics, some of them of a European nature such as NewsReader and LINGUATEC
