Gosalvez holds a Licentiate degree in Material Physics from Complutense University of Madrid (1996) and a PhD in Computational Physics from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland (2003, now Aalto University). With 13 years of training, work and teaching experience abroad, Gosalvez is able to communicate fluently in Spanish, Finnish and English. Since June 2010, he has been affiliated with the University of the Basque Country, first as a Ramón y Cajal researcher, and later, since February 2017, as a permanent researcher.

Gosalvez is co-author of 4 book chapters, 84 scientific articles, 60 contributions in conferences and 8 invited talks. He has worked as a consultant for US companies (Coventor and IntelliSense).

CAD software provided by both companies is used by engineers at major semiconductor and electronics companies worldwide to develop leading edge micro- and nano-scale sensors and devices. Gosalvez is also a co-author of the software VisualTAPAS, better known by its trade name IntelliEtch, which IntelliSense commercializes worldwide.

His research topics focus on the reactivity and processing of surfaces within the field of computational physics/chemistry and micro/nanoengineering. He currently teaches the undergraduate course Mathematics II and Statistics offered by the Faculty of Chemistry and the postgraduate course From Nanoscience to Nanotechnology within the Master in Nanoscience offered by the Department of Materials Physics.
