In 2007, I graduated as Chemical Engineer in the School of Engineering of Bilbao (UPV/EHU) as first of my class. In the same school, I studied the Master in Advanced Materials, and I carried out my PhD thesis at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. During this period, I spent six months in the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis, Rostock (Germany). In the years 2013 and 2014 I worked as post-doctoral researcher at the University of California Davis (USA) and at the Cardiff Catalysis Institute (United Kingdom). In January 2015 I became Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. In June 2019 I got my tenure position at the same department.
My research line focused on the development of catalytic processes for the valorization of renewable carbon sources, and, especially lignocelullosic biomass. This requires the development of heterogeneous catalysts for liquid phase oxidation and hydrogenation reactions.
I lecture Chemistry (first year) and Chemical Technology (3th year) at the Industrial Engineering degree. I also teach at the Master of Industrial Engineering.
