JAVIER ALVEZ GIMENEZ

Javier Alvez received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU in 2001 and 2008, respectively. He has work as post-doctoral researcher in the Group of Declarative Programming (GPD) of the Complutense University of Madrid, project-director in the area of Intelligent Software at the Technology Centre Ideko-IK4.

In 2013, he started working as Assistant Professor in the Engineering School of Bilbao, and since 2022 he is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Computer Science of San Sebastian. His current research interests include logic programming, automated reasoning, commonsense reasoning and equality contraint solving. He has taken part in 15 funded research projects is the principal investigator in one of them. He is a member of the LoRea Research Group and collaborates with the Ixa Research Group of the Computer Science Faculty.

He is the co-author of more than 20 scientific articles, 2 books and 10 book chapters. He has been the director of 7 final year projects. He has been research visitor at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica - CWI (the Dutch National Research Council for Mathematics and Computer Science, 2009)

He is member of the Udako Euskal Unibertsitatea (UEU) and, since 2017, he is member of its publishing committee.
