Bachelor’s degree (2001, University of Deusto) and PhD in Basque Philology (2010, UPV/EHU). Her dissertation was on the semantics and pragmatics of the Basque particle omen, and she obtained two awards: extraordinary award for PhD theses (UPV/EHU, academic year 2010/2011) and III Koldo Mitxelena Award to PhD Theses in Basque (Euskaltzaindia-Royal Academy of the Basque Language and University of the Basque Country), both in Humanities. She was a postdoctoral researcher at University College London (2011-2012) and the ILCLI (2013). From 2014 on, she is an assistant professor, first at the department of Linguistics and Basque Studies, and since 2015 at the department of Basque Language and Communication.



Her research interests are mostly the semantics and pragmatics of the Basque evidential/modal particles, and other words/expressions used to express modality/evidentiality in Basque, semantics/pragmatics distinction, experimental pragmatics and pragmatics of anaphoric/logophoric pronouns in Basque. She published works on these subjects in the journals Language, Belgian Journal of Linguistics, Research in Language and Gogoa, among others. She is a member of the research institute ILCLI since 2002, and nowadays a member of the research group Language, Action, and Thought.
