Ana Arruarte received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, in 1998. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Computer Languages and Systems Department at the same university where has been taught teaching subjects, both in the degree and master's degrees, associated to areas such as Programming, Databases, Recommender Systems and Technology Supported Learning Systems.

In mid-90s she joined the GaLan research group of the University of the Basque Country UPV / EHU (https://galan.ehu.eus), in which she has developed her research work in the interdisciplinary area of Educational Technology. Basically, she has worked on aspects such as knowledge acquisition, student modeling, automatic evaluation of document summaries, or learning based on conceptual maps. At present, her work is mainly focused on the semiautomatic acquisition of the domain module from electronic documents using techniques based on heuristics, natural language processing and automatic learning, the development of multicultural learning tools or the use of recommender systems and trust models in education.

At present, she is a member of the Adian consolidated research group (Basque Government) and member of the ITForja teaching team, recognized as a structured team by the UPV/EHU.
