MARIA NURIA SOTOMAYOR ANDUIZA

Graduated in Chemistry and PhD (1993) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). After a postdoctoral stay at the University of Waterloo (Canada) under the supervision of Prof. V Snieckus (1994-95), she joins the Department of Organic Chemistry II (UPV/EHU in Leioa, Bizkaia), where she is full profesor (2010). Together with Prof. E. Lete, she leads the research group "Organometalics in synthesis". Her current research interests are focused on the application on organometallic reagents in synthesis and asymmetric catalysis, in areas such as Pd(0), Pd(II) and Co(III) catalyzed C-H activation, alkenylation, arylation or acylation reactions for the synthesis of potentially active compounds, natural products or drugs. She teaches different courses on organic chemistry, both for undergraduate and graduate students, and has supervised 19 PhD thesis and and >50 undergraduate and Master students
