Descripción y contextualización de la asignatura
Neuroscience is the scientific discipline that tries to understand the central nervous system (CNS) and its diseases. For this, it supports and encompasses many other sciences: from the most basic (genetics, biochemistry, ...) to the most clinical such as neurology and psychiatry. It is considered the last frontier of biomedical knowledge, and its fundamental objectives are to understand the biological mechanisms responsible for human activity and to find a way to preserve, restore and strengthen the functioning of our SNC before and after its deterioration. The "Neuroscience in health and disease" course will provide students with a broad knowledge in that field ranging from molecular and cellular to clinical neuroscience. Understanding the specific cell biology issues of neurons and glial cells and their relationships in health and disease will be its main objective.
To this end, "Neuroscience in health and disease" course will focus on selected topics ranging from various basic to clinical perspectives (see theoretical-practical contents). During two weeks, and in an intensive way, the aim will be to identify the progress made and highlight the challenges still facing the Neuroscience field.

Convocatoria ordinaria: orientaciones y renuncia
Evaluation of the subject will include a grading corresponding to: lecture and seminar attendance and active participation in them (40 % of the final grade); correct answers to questionnaires related to attended sessions (written informs, 20% of the final grade); and grading of individual analysis and oral presentation of assigned tasks (40% of the final grade). Attendance, written responses to questionnaires and oral presentation are required to pass the subject.Comments:
Attendance is compulsory. Excused absences may be made up with the activity indicated by the person in charge of the session.
The intervention of the student in the classes will be valued, the questions and comments made in each session will be valued. A high participation and attendance to 100% of the sessions allows to pass the course.
An unexcused attendance of less than 80% of the sessions will result in the failure of the course.
In the case of absence with a justified cause (more than 30%), an exam/test of the subject adjusted to the specific situation will be carried out.
The evaluation tests of the course will be adjusted to the characteristics of the group and will be made explicit at the beginning of the course.
